how the gps was challenging to me.
i felt that the gps was a struggle to me because of the hard work i had to put forth by using comprehension. alot of of the lessons in this class required lots of reading and comprehension. there was pieces of literature that you couldnt even understand unless you read it at least five times. and in order to comprehend some peices of literature you would have to re-read it numerous of times. and that was a bit of a struggle, but after getting the drift of it, i became a little better when comes down to reading and comprhension. the unit that i demonstrated that the most in this class, would have to be unit two. because there were lots of poems that i could not understand worth a flip. and one of those poems was the Rip Van Wrinkle poem. but after the teacher suggested that i re -read the poem until i understood it, i was good to go for further hard poems to come.
my response to the poem called the incident.
this particular poem was very interesting, but also very upsetting. the reason why i say this is because this poem was about an african american being called a "nigger", while walking down the street one day. this is something that still goes on today. and that is why the poem was kind of upsetting to me. but yet interesting. i was interested by the poem because it shows how this author turned an incident so cruel, into a poem. the same thing actually happend to me one day and i was so mad and upset. i really wanted to hunt that person down for insulting my race. but instead of the author reacting the same as any other average person would. he turned it into a piece of art i would say. so, this poem does reflect on modernism because this same thing happens today, and i know from experience.
my response to the poem called the negro speaks of the rivers
this particualr poem, was kinda interesting to me. the reason why i say that it interesting is becasue it was written about my culture. and it was also written by an african american, which is what i also am. so it was even more relating. but, i didnt quite understand what the poem was actually about. after i read it a few times, i came to an understanding. it is about the history of african americans and about how they suffered back in the days. they suffered so greatly that they didnt have a choice but to share their feelings through songs, and poems. or through whatever they would find more soothing at the time. but today, there are a lot of african americans that still suffer today from racism. so, this poem does kinda reflect on modernism.
my response to the poem called the dream deffered.
i believe that this particular poem is about the accomplishment of dreams. which is something that i can relate to because, i'm always trying to figure out how to reach my dreams, or should i say goals in life. the poem is basically about wether or not a person puts forth the right amout of effort to accomplish their goals or reach their dreams. and now a days, there are alot of lazy poeple in this world. they may dream big dreams but they dont do whats neccessary to reach those dreams. but, i do admit that i can fall into that same category at times. but, i always end up coming back to reality and getting done, what needs to be done. so, therefore i may end up percrassinating but i do get the job done. so, i think this poem reflects modernism, because there are a lot of lazy poeple on this earth today.
my response to the mending wall poem
this particular poem, which is called the mending wall, was very interesting to me. i liked this poem because its moral is about stubborness. and alot of poeple say that i'm stubborn, so it was very interesting to read a poem about stubbornesss. in the poem there is a guy that is so stubborn, that he really dosent have any friends because, he dosent like to meet new people. he calls his self putting up a fence towards people he dosent really know. which means, he dosent communicate with them. he dosent even like to greet people. and that is how a lot of people are these days. so that does show a sign of modernism.
the poem by richard corey
this particular poem that i read, which was by richard corey, was very interesting. i liked the poem because it had a very important moral. that moral was that, no matter how much money a person seems to have or how happy they are. Because sometimes, thats not all that matters. a person could still be unhappy on the inside eventhough they have all the money in the world. so. money isnt what all that matters. happiness is. this is something that us poeple today suffer from. many people have all the money they can ask for like, actresses, rappers, singers, and exct. they may appear to be happy to us fans, but in reality, they are unhappy because they may be lacking a certain thing. so, in this poem i've read, it demonstrates the moral that, money isnt all that matters. happiness is what matters.

my response to the harlem renaissance
i really liked the story that i chose to read, which was called the harlem renaissance. the story was very interesting because there were some things that occured in the story that i thought was a little abonormal. but, overall it was a great story because it turned out to have a happy ending. eventhough there were a few words that i didnt understand, i still managed to get through the story. and also understand the moral of it.
I've discoverd that the moral of the story was mainly about appreciation. i think the moral relates to people that are unhappy in life or couples that are unhappy.they are unhappy because they may not have the certain things they wish for in life. so, while trying desperatley to get those things they end up making horrible sacrifices. some of those sacrifices ends up doing permant damge. not only to the one who makes the sacrifice, but to one they love. so, appreciating the things one already has, will go a long way.
While reading the story, i've also discoverd that it does actually feflect some of the things i was looking forward to seeing in the story. i was interested in seeing how the harlem ranaissance reflected my culture. and i did. the moral of the story feflects my culture because it tells about appreciation and struggle. not only does my culture represent struggle, but it also represents appreciation.
the story was about an african american married couple, that seemed to be very happy.but they werent exactly happy when it came to the finances. so one day when the while the couple was enjoying their daily routine, the one of the spouses,( which was the husband) introduced the other to an exciting new place. but that place was owned by a very wealthy man. the husband and the owner of that place knew each other very well. and there was something that owner had, they the husband and his wife were lacking. and it was wealth. which was actually gold peices during that time. so while the husband was telling his wife about this wonderful place, he also slipped up and told her a little bit of information about the owner.that peice of information had eventually lead to a big gap in the marriage. because of the husband telling his wife about all that gold and money he had and how good looking the owner of this place was, she started to become tempted all at the same time. so, one day the husband came home and caught his wife in the bed with the same person he was concluding with the wonderful place he wanted to take his wife. and after that, he still decides to remain in the marriage. but, the purpose of his wife cheating, was to gain that what they their marriage was missing. and that was money. so she made the sacrifice to lose her marriage trying to save it. and that shows signs of struggle. which is something that my ancestors had to go through because of the way people in my culture were treated. so, struggle and appreciation is something that our culture represents. this os because of all the things our culture had to go through, to get to where we are today.
